The Dazcat Power 15 Desiderata - A Modern Marvel
Desiderata is a Dazcat Power 15 built by Multimarine at the Multihull Centre in Millbrook, Cornwall — designed and built specifically for Paul and Pauline Scholey, who had never owned a boat before commissioning her. Launched in 2008, she was one of the yard's early forays into fully wheelchair-accessible power cruising, built around a custom flybridge fitted with its own lift so Paul could move freely between the saloon and the upper deck.
Rather than conventional propellers, Desiderata is driven by twin engines through water jets — and helming her, from either the saloon pilot station or the flybridge, is handled through Vector Joystick controls rather than a traditional wheel. Below decks she sleeps family and friends comfortably across three ensuite double cabins, plus a master with its own large wet room.
A major refit in 2021-22, overseen by the boat's original project manager, brought her fully up to date: repainted topsides, fresh Coppercoat antifouling, new eco-teak decking, and new Rolls-Royce water jets. She's changed hands at least once since the Scholeys' original commission, and remains, by any measure, one of the more remarkable fully accessible power catamarans on the water.
