What is America's Great Loop?

At 6000 miles for the most direct route or 8000+ miles with side trips, this circumnavigation of Eastern North America is the longest continuous inland waterway in the world! It includes The Great Lakes, the Illinois, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, and Missouri Rivers, the Gulf Coast from Mexican border in Brownsville Texas to the Florida Keys, Cuba & the Bahamas, then up the Intracoastal Waterway from Florida to New York, up the Hudson and through the Erie Canal to the St. Lawrence Seaway, Lake Erie, and Canada's 175-year-old culturally and visually rich Heritage Canals, west through Lake Huron, south through Lake Michigan to Chicago the south on the Illinois River to connect to the Mississippi.
